Rise

An anti fascist doctrine

By: Alfred C. Key IV

In order to understand the nature of what it means to be an Anti fascist we must first understand fascism. The roots of which reside in the doctrines of imperialism for both fascism and imperialism use the modes of blood and soil, the proclamation of the other, and the individual being owned by the state. Throughout human history with the growth of the imperial process and its decline through the ages what is seen is the implementation of the said three modes. In the oldest of empires the enemy of the state was usually the ones that were the hardest to conquer or posed an ideological threat to the empire. In the roman empire the ideological enemy changed over time whether it was the celts, the germanic tribes, or the christians. The othering process was to make the said people group either inferior or somehow a monstrous giant of ideological evil. The idea of blood and soil is found in the empires of the late twentieth century where a racial group is seen to have a right to the land over another. This is also found in Greek colonies and city states of the ancient world where the idea that Greek lands must stay with greeks. The idea that the individual is owned by the state although new with the rise of nazi Germany and fascist Italy has its history with the history of slavery where the individual is owned as property.

To be anti fascist in this regard is to be against the idea that a certain bloodline has claim to the land. Is to be against the idea of the individual being owned by the state and to be against the process of othering. When one is confronted with fascism one must first ask themselves whether or not the group is promoting one of these three modes. If they are then they are fascist it’s really that simple. In the fight against fascism the warrior has three main weapons at their disposal: the slow process of education, the usurping by the process of democracy where the individual's rights are protected from violation by state or the other individual groups and as a last resort unmitigated violence.

Education through the making available of information about fascism and anti fascism. In this process the individual must take it upon themselves to be aware of the ideas that fascism promotes. One also must listen to those who have experienced fascism first hand and those who are educated in the process of politics. One must be open to listen to whisper as well as the shout of people who are deemed the other by fascist doctrine. One also must be willing to make mistakes and learn from them. Patients must be implemented when in the educating process for a person may come into contact with people of the anti fascist movement who do not agree with a person's ideas. In this mode of battle victory is achieved through the transitioning of the opponent into ally, the ignorant into the enlightened, and lastly making the abstract the internal. History and awareness of current affairs are the greatest teachers; they are also the fickle. History is sometimes written by the victors so when on the quest for knowledge look to sources that present the material that does one of two things present first hand accounts and second presents without the pollution of political doctrine. Current affairs must also be viewed in the same way with the presenting of the material as unbiased as possible. Choice from multiple news sources and keep an open mind that even the most unbiased presenter has a bias through who they choose to interview.

Democracy is a political system that is based on the idea that the people have rule whether through direct election or through a representative system. How can this be a tool against the fascist one might ask. Because the democracy that can beat the fascist is one that promotes and protects an individual's right to a fair trial, right of speech, right of press, right of freedom of religion, right to choose a life that is beneficial to themselves as well as those around them and the right to vote and not vote. The right to make decisions that are good for a person's personal growth, right of expression, right to be educated, the right to own property, the right to assemble and the right to make a future for oneself without the total involvement of the state. Democracy with these rights intact is the torch in the night. For those who promote fascism are the hive mind, the ones that give up their individual freedoms in order to take control of society. The ones who embrace democracy of this kind are the enlightened ones who take it upon themselves to promote an individual's freedom. Those who are of the light will live their lives with the idea in mind that their fellow man and woman are like them and deserve freedom and self rule regardless of the difference in religion, class and race. Through the process of democracy one can ensure that people who have fascist leaning never make it into power and if they do then the will of the people to overthrow their government through the knowledge that their rights are being taken from them.

Unmitigated violence against facism should be used when either a fascist leaning leader is elected into office and all modes of impeachment have failed or when a fascist group arises and there is a failure of our representative body to stop them through the methods of policing. In other words when they are marching down the streets and our police force decides to do nothing. When fighting the fascist in this method one needs to be armed and have the ability to distinguish friend from foe and the violence must take place in a fashion that is strategic. This is so that people who do not want to be involved are not harmed. To be violent is one thing, to be senselessly violent is another. When they fight, all are the enemy unless they adhere to their three modes. When we fight we fight to keep our allies and preserve the right granted to every man and woman in the world. With this said those who want to be pacifistic should be allowed to be so by the very right that they are human and are also granted the same rights. We should not and will not coerce anyone into the role of the violent warrior because to do so is usurp the rights granted to them. All fighters of fascism must be voluntary to force into combat one who does not wish to fight is to take away the ability of choice. The fascists do not take choice into consideration. The fascist fights with aims of controlling the individual right to say no. The fascist form of violence is fueled by hate which leads to non discretion. Tools of warfare should be determined on the situation in which the fascist is fought. Education on methods of warfare should be pursued and lastly uniforms should be mandated.

The fight of good versus evil is as old as time itself but now more than ever we can clearly distinguish between what is good and what is evil not through the use of symbols but through the actions of those who claim one ideology or the next. Through the process of action history and modern times tells us that fascism is one of the great evils of the world. This evil disrupts the natural rights of humanity, places family against family and in the end leads to the total destruction of people groups. The sheer lack of compassion and ability to forgive contributes to this evil. In order to win against this evil one must rise above their hate. One must rise above their three modes. One must rise above one's own fear. One must rise against one's own hatred. One must rise with the idea that all people are granted compassion and forgiveness. One must rise.
